BELVIDERE — A Boone County judge has sentenced a Chicago man to prison after the man pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges.

The charges against Jagunath Jackson, 33, stem from a November traffic stop by Boone County sheriff’s deputies at the Belvidere Oasis. The deputies found 24 grams of heroin and a .380 caliber pistol in Jackson’s vehicle after a K-9 search.

Judge C. Robert Tobin III sentenced Jackson on Aug. 7 to 10 1/2 years in prison for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and seven years for possession of a stolen firearm. The sentences will be served concurrently.
