Summer is still hanging on but a TV channel is already preparing for the festive season – even though there are more than 120 sleeps until the big day itself.

The countdown to Christmas has started for Sony Movies which launches its movie channel packed with festive favourites next month.

Previously known as True Christmas, the channel will this year be called Sony Movies Christmas and will be keeping the festive spirit going from September through to January, with a sleigh load of yuletide delights.

The channel will officially return to screens across the UK on Tuesday, September 10 playing nothing but Christmas movies 24/7, with films such as Holiday Road Trip, Christmas With the Kranks, Silver Bells and Defending Santa on the schedule.

If that weren’t enough, Sony are also already planning several big themed weekends for you to watch while you crack out a mince pie and glass of mulled wine, MirrorOnline reports.

These will include Bah Humbug, Christmas Animals, Santa Sunday and Christmas Comedy.

And to truly get you in the festive feels, they’ll be playing an emotional movie like Christmas Grace and Moonlight & Mistletoe each evening from 7pm – so you’ll want to have a box of tissues at the ready.

Those keen to start feeling real Christmassy can get stuck in from September 10 on Freeview 50, Sky 319, Virgin 424 and Freesat 303.

And Sony aren’t the only ones getting holiday movie ready – a trailer for a new festive rom-com called Last Christmas recently dropped and people on Twitter went wild for it.

The film stars Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Kate and Henry Goulding (Crazy Rich Asians) as Tom and is set to the music of the late George Michael.

Kate is a young woman working in a Christmas shop as an elf. Her life seems to be heading in a downwards spiral until she meets Tom, who helps her turn things around.

Directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and written by Emma Thompson (who also stars as Kate’s mum) the film is set to be released in cinemas on November 15 in the UK.
