Cricketer Sreesanth is now all set to conquer the big screen. The fast/medium-pace bowler has forayed into Kannada films with Kempegowda 2, which is now gearing for an August 9 release. The actor is on cloud nine as even before his first Kannada film hits the screen, he has been roped in to play the lead for his next project Dhoom Again, to be directed by Rajesh Varma. The film said to be a mega-budget movie will be released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

The first teaser of the film was launched in style at Lalit Ashok, Kumara Krupa Road, Bengaluru. The teaser was launched by ‘Power Star’ Puneeth Rajkumar. The event was also attended by some of the big names from the Kannada industry like producer Sa Ra Govindu and Praveen Shetty, from the Kannada Rakshana Vedike. His son, Praveer Shetty also features in the film.

Finally, it was time to introduce the actors of Dhoom Again. The four new boys: Praveer Shetty, Vasu, Rakesh Shetty and Arjun Shetty, who have made their debut in this film, made a grand entry riding their bikes right onto the stage. While the audience were hoping to catch a glimpse of Sreesanth and the leading lady riding a bike to the stage just like the others, the lead pair walked on to the pavilion hand-in-hand.

In Dhoom Again, Sreesanth will star with Spanish model, Janera Idher, who marks her entry into Kannada films. The film is being produced by Sujith Shetty and Raj Sethia with music by Guru Kiran. Dhoom Again will be realised under the banner – Paramathma Creations.

The chief guest, actor Puneeth said he was happy to share the stage with Sreesanth and had watched every match of the cricketer. “Not many of you are aware that Sreesanth is also a brilliant dancer. I hope that Dhoom Again will use his dancing talents extensively.”

Then he also joked about every actor having “Shetty” as the surname with, “I would like to congratulate Shetty, Shetty, Shetty and Shetty for being a part of this film.” Then Puneeth added, “no matter which part of the country we come from or what our surnames are, we are all part of one big family called cinema. We all need one another and have to encourage one another. Dhoom Again will also have a lot of stunts and speeding bikes. Speed may thrill, but I take this moment to caution all youngsters not to get carried away with speed. It is dangerous. Please wear the protective gears you need to while riding bikes. It is always painful when we read and hear about young boys losing their lives to road accidents.”

Next was Sreeshanth’s turn to speak and he greeted people in Kannada which was hugely applauded. “I am thrilled to share the stage with a legend like Puneeth Rajkumar. In cricket, we have legends like Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid, and in cinema, it is Puneet bhai. I am grateful to him for coming here to release the teaser of our film. Standing next to him is my absolute fan-moment. The other speciality of Dhoom Again is that I am on a bike chasing not just four boys but also a gorgeous girl.” The actor also said that he has a special place for Bengaluru and Kannada as he did his schooling here and studied in a Kannada school.

Sa Ra Govindu wished the team luck with, “I am thrilled that my friend Praveen Kumar Shetty’s son is acting in this film. Though there was a film Dhoom in Hindi, I am sureDhoom again, will create history. The industry needs youngsters to come in and this film is a platform for all these actors. May all create a bang with this film.”

Director Rajesh Varma said, the shoot of the will start in August. “There is no relation to the Hindi film Dhoom. This film is just for the youth and has a very different storyline. The film will be a feast for your eyes, heart and emotions. A total entertainer,” said Varma who debuts as a director with this film.

He also added that though the film was first launched as a Kannada film, it grew big and now will be made in five languages – Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. “I am a little tense now that the film will be released in five languages. That has added a lot of pressure but is also motivating me and the entire team to give the film our best shot.”
