ROCKTON — A Hononegah High School teacher is in the running for the Illinois State Board of Education’s 2020 Illinois Teacher of the Year.
Margaret Moore, who teaches honors biology and anatomy, is one of 10 finalists for the award, which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the state’s public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools.
Moore has taught at Hononegah since August 2007.
The finalists were chosen by a mix of teachers, administrators and educational service personnel as well as past Illinois Teachers of the Year.
The State Board of Education will announce the 2020 Illinois Teacher of the Year during the Those Who Excel banquet Oct. 19 in Normal.
