Have you been a good bunch of elves this year? Then go right ahead and treat yourselves to this week’s Kem and Joe show at NJPAC, where WBLS presents “Home for the Holidays.”

The celebrated R&B vocalists are inviting y’all to get in the spirit with soulful songs from their chart-topping Christmas albums, including Kem’s “What Christmas Means” and Joe’s “Home Is the Essence of Christmas.”
“I live a charmed life,” Kem told the Amsterdam News on the eve of his last New York winter gig. “I’m doing what I was called to do. I am living my passion; it is part of who I am, and I am very grateful.”

A sultry, soulful balladeer, while now just married and with a new young ‘un, back then he told the paper, “I hope that the listener gets an honest look at love and relationships––the good and the bad. And also I want the listener to walk away knowing that they have experienced a piece of work that has been cared for, that there is a quality in the music; from the texture of the song itself to the way it is recorded, to who mixes the album, and who masters the album. All those things make a great piece of work.”

Joe Thomas, equally classic in his style, puts on a full and satisfying crowd-friendly show, then he gives his all, and then. “A Little Bit More.”

With voices as smooth as hot cocoa, they’ll fill you with the warmth of the season.
See them on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 8 p.m., NJPAC, Prudential Hall, One Center Street, Newark, New Jersey; or 888.GO.NJPAC (888.466.5722)
