Officer, motorist suffer minor injuries in east Las Vegas crash

A police officer and a motorist suffered minor injuries in a crash early Monday in east Las Vegas.
About 4:35 a.m., a marked Metropolitan Police Department vehicle with its emergency lights and siren on was heading south on Lamb Boulevard, said Lt. David Gordon in a text. The officer turned to go east on Charleston Boulevard when it was struck by a black Nissan Sentra eastbound on Charleston.
Both drivers complained of pain and were transported to a hospital.
The vehicles suffered moderate damage, Gordon said.
As of 6 a.m., there were some lane closures in the area, which were expected to remain until about 8 a.m.
Motorists should avoid the area.
