DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Addison Russell homered and had two hits as the Iowa Cubs beat the Salt Lake Bees 5-2 on Sunday.
Iowa went up 4-0 in the fifth after Mark Zagunis and Russell scored on a passed ball.
The Bees cut into the deficit in the seventh inning when Roberto Pena hit an RBI single and Erick Salcedo hit a sacrifice fly.
The Cubs tacked on another run in the seventh when Russell hit a solo home run.
Iowa right-hander Matt Swarmer (8-10) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Jason Alexander (1-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after giving up three runs and five hits over 4 1/3 innings.
