DES MOINES, Wash. — A 67-year-old scuba diver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday morning after an incident off Redondo Beach in Des Moines, according to South King Fire.

South King Fire says a man and woman were diving in the area when the man began experiencing some sort of problem at 90 feet down.

The pair then reportedly started to ascend and were able to get to the surface.

A Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife boat happened to be in the area and the crew was able to pull the injured diver onto the boat, South King Fire said.

Officials then performed CPR on the man at the scene and were able to bring back his pulse.

However, South King Fire says after he was taken to Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, the man went into cardiac arrest again.
