Inclusive church Unity Chicago, 1925 W. Thome Ave., announced plans to move its offices, event space and sanctuary to a temporary location while a new facility is renovated in Chicago’s Old Irving Park neighborhood.
In an announcement to past and present followers and congregants, the board of trustees said, “Misericordia has purchased our Thome Avenue space. We are grateful that our interests aligned with Misericodia, this is a total in-win for all: we can realize our dreams to move into a new, larger space to accommodate our growing family, and our neighbor, Misericordia, finally has the opportunity to meet continued demand for space, resources and programming.”
The board added that, beginning this September ( exact date TBD ), Unity Chicago will move into its temporary location at Northeastern Illinois University.
A special gala is being held on the Thome Avenue property on Friday, Aug. 23, beginning at 6 p.m. for neighbors, friends, followers, congregants and all others interested in gathering and celebrating Unity Chicago’s 30 years of life in West Rogers Park.
