The Middle East region is ready at any moment to erupt from a large number of weapons supplied by the US, Al Jazeera TV reported referring to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. “If you are talking about threats coming from the region, the threats are coming from the US and its allies who are pouring weapons in the region, making it a tinderbox ready to blow up,” Zarif said.The situation in the Persian Gulf region worsened after blasts and fires occurred on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman on June 13 after the alleged attack. The US blamed the incident on Iran, supported by the UK and Saudi Arabia. Tehran rejected these allegations.The State Department announced in late June that Washington is building a coalition to ensure freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on July 23 proposed involving states from different regions in the coalition. On the same day, it became known that Germany, France, and the UK are negotiating to provide their own mission to monitor the safety of navigation in the Persian Gulf. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on July 31 made a statement that his country was refusing to participate in the coalition initiated by Washington.
